High disruption
After the September 2026 US aviation sanctions about 20% of Iran's international flights are suspended. The UAE barred Iranian carriers and, since April 2026, airlines have refused Iranian citizens entry to and transit through the UAE, so Dubai is closed to Iranian passport holders; Turkish, Emirates, Qatar, Lufthansa and Austrian are not flying. Istanbul, Yerevan, Najaf, Muscat, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur and Guangzhou still operate and are the useful transit points.
