Money and payment
Rouble. Visa and Mastercard do not work in Russia; bring cash dollars and euros or get a Mir card.
A Shetab–Mir link has been announced for some Iranian banks but is not widespread; do not rely on it.
Transit tips
- Mahan flies direct to Sheremetyevo (SVO); Aeroflot flies from the same airport, so connecting is easy.
- Not suitable for Europe: there are no direct flights from Russia to the EU.
- Moscow winters are harsh; pack warm clothes in your carry-on.
