What we could not confirm
- Taxi fares and travel time to the centre
- Current international schedule
Scores
- Getting there
- On Pasdaran boulevard in the south-west of the city, a short taxi or Snapp ride from the centre. No airport bus was found.
- Terminal and queues
- Two small terminals: 8,000 square metres domestic and 6,500 square metres international. The airport reopened in spring 1405 after repairs following air strikes.
- Connections and transit
- Mainly Tehran and Mashhad plus Najaf and Kuwait when politics allow. Najaf flights were halted on 25 September 2026 and partly resumed in October under a 40-flights-a-day cap for pilgrims.
- Food, rest, SIM, prayer room
- Prayer room, a café and a small buffet. Air conditioning matters here; the terminal gets hot in summer.
- Delays and cancellations
- Follows the national pattern; summer dust storms and heat cause extra cancellations.
What is good
- Close to the city centre
What is not
- Dust-storm cancellations in summer
- Najaf flights depend on week-to-week politics
Tips
- For Arbaeen compare the flight with the Shalamcheh land route; buses are cheap and reliable
- Check dust forecasts in summer before a tight connection
