What we could not confirm
- On-time statistics for SAW
- Current Havabus fare
Scores
- Getting there
- On the Asian side, far from Sultanahmet and Taksim. The M4 metro reaches Kadikoy in about an hour; Havabus to Taksim takes about 90 minutes; a taxi to the European side can take two hours in traffic.
- Terminal and queues
- A single terminal used by Pegasus and other low-cost carriers. It is crowded and gates are often bus gates; security lines can be long at dawn.
- Connections and transit
- Good for cheap Pegasus connections to Europe, but Pegasus sells separate tickets, so a missed connection is your problem. Transferring to Istanbul Airport takes two to three hours.
- Food, rest, SIM, prayer room
- Prayer room, halal food and SIM counters, but fewer seats and lounges than Istanbul Airport. Cash lira helps; Iranian cards do not work.
- Delays and cancellations
- No airport-level ranking found; low-cost schedules are tight and late-evening departures slip. Treated as average.
What is good
- Cheapest fares from Iran to Istanbul and onward to Europe
- Metro link to Kadikoy
What is not
- Far from the European side
- Crowded terminal and bus gates
Tips
- If your hotel is in Sultanahmet or Taksim, compare the total trip before picking SAW over IST
- Pegasus charges for bags and seat choice; add them when comparing prices
