What we could not confirm
- Whether the April 2026 entry ban on Iranians is still enforced
- Whether any Air Arabia Iran route is operating today
Scores
- Getting there
- Bus 99 runs to Jubail station in central Sharjah for 7 to 9 dirham; taxis to Dubai cost 60 to 100 dirham. None of this matters unless Iranians can enter: the UAE barred Iranian passport holders from entry and transit in April 2026 and the current status is unclear.
- Terminal and queues
- A single, crowded low-cost terminal built around Air Arabia. Many bus gates and long security lines in the early morning.
- Connections and transit
- Air Arabia's Iran routes (Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Lar) have been suspended repeatedly since June 2025, and the UAE suspended all Iranian airlines from 24 September 2026. Treat Sharjah as closed for Iranian itineraries until an airline confirms otherwise.
- Food, rest, SIM, prayer room
- Prayer rooms, halal food, SIM kiosks (du, Etisalat) and a small lounge. Iranian cards do not work.
- Delays and cancellations
- Repeated regional airspace closures in 2025 and 2026 cancelled whole weeks of flights; low-cost schedules recover slowly.
What is good
- Historically the cheapest Gulf gateway from Iranian cities
What is not
- Iranian passports may be refused entry and transit
- Routes to Iran on and off since 2025
Tips
- Do not buy a Sharjah ticket until Air Arabia or your agency confirms Iranian passengers are being carried
- Route via Muscat or Doha instead
