What we could not confirm
- Exact current-year delay percentage
- Which international routes still operate from Mehrabad
Scores
- Getting there
- Mehrabad sits inside the city. A branch of Metro Line 4 splits at Bimeh station and has two airport stops, one for Terminals 1 and 2 and one for Terminals 4 and 6. Snapp and Tapsi pick up outside every terminal.
- Terminal and queues
- Four domestic terminals, all older and busy. There is no dedicated international terminal; the few foreign flights use the CIP facilities. Security lines can be slow early in the morning.
- Connections and transit
- Mehrabad is the main domestic hub, so connecting between Iranian cities is easy. Connecting to an international flight means a 45 to 90 minute transfer to Imam Khomeini.
- Food, rest, SIM, prayer room
- Prayer rooms, cafés and restaurants in every terminal. Food options are basic and prices are above city level.
- Delays and cancellations
- CAO monthly statistics for Mehrabad show 40 to 56 percent of domestic flights delayed, depending on the month. Early-morning and holiday flights are the worst.
What is good
- In the city and on the metro
- Flights to almost every Iranian city
What is not
- Roughly half of domestic flights leave late
- Old terminals with crowded gates
Tips
- Check your terminal number on the ticket before choosing the metro stop
- Book the first flight of the day if you have an onward connection; later flights accumulate delays
