Staying in Mashhad

Mashhad is Iran's pilgrimage city and the busiest domestic destination: Tehran–Mashhad was the first route to resume after the 1405 airspace closure and gets priority whenever flights are disrupted. Pilgrims and families go year-round, often for two to four nights, and full-board hotel packages are a standard way to book.

  • The wider Aban 1405 airfare series (4.5 to 10.4 million toman) was only spot-checked for 9 and 10 Aban; the endpoints were not found.
  • A general 700,000–3 million toman per-night hotel range for Mashhad was not seen in the cited article; only the Sepanta examples were.
  • Alibaba's list of Mashhad bus operators (Royal Safar, Giti Peyma and others) was not verified.

Kinds of stay

  • Hotel

The largest hotel inventory in Iran: Iran Hotel Online lists 487 Mashhad hotels. Rates are quoted room-only or full board (for example Sepanta: 1.8 million toman room only, 2.2 million full board, on 11 Aban 1405).

  • Apartment

Hotel apartments are part of what Iran Hotel Online, Hotelyar and Eghamat24 sell for Mashhad; Jabama, Shab, Otaghak and Jajiga also have Mashhad pages for suites and apartments.

On 11 Aban 1405 (2 Nov 2026) Nabz-e Gheymat listed Mashhad hotel nights such as Sepanta at 1.8 million toman room only and 2.2 million full board, rising to 1.9 and 2.4 million at the 18–22 Aban peak; a 2-night Mashhad train tour started at 8.7 million toman per person and air tours at 17.5–21.5 million. On 3 Nov 2026 Snapptrip's Mashhad page showed per-night prices from about 960,000 to 9,240,000 toman.

Tips

  • Getting there costs more than sleeping there: the Tehran–Mashhad average airfare was 7,105,000 toman on 10 Aban 1405 (about 6.7 million the day before), while the train runs from about 1,390,000 toman (6-berth coupe) to about 4,160,000 (5-star Fadak) after the Aban 1405 rise, so the train is roughly 15–50% of the airfare.
  • Tehran–Mashhad buses from the South Terminal cost 820,000–1,315,000 toman on 17–18 Tir 1405 depending on bus type and seat count.
  • Hotel rates step up around religious peaks; the 18–22 Aban 1405 peak raised Sepanta's rates by about 100,000–200,000 toman a night.
  • Package prices (train or flight plus hotel) are starting prices per person in a double room and are not final; 4-night tours with mixed hotels started at 23 million toman on 11 Aban 1405.
  • Alibaba's Mashhad hotel page builds dated search links with Gregorian departing/returning dates; Eghamat24 (/MashhadHotels.html) is the only Iranian hotel seller that advertises an affiliate link.
  • Mashhad is also an Arbaeen departure point: capped Arbaeen 1405 round trips to Najaf were 28 million toman from Mashhad and eastern airports.
