Staying in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is the other Caucasus capital Iranians reach without a visa, reportedly for 45 days, though border officers can ask for a return ticket, hotel booking, insurance and proof of funds. It pairs naturally with Yerevan by overnight train. No Iranian seller's Tbilisi hotel page was verified.

Book a hotel before you go: a hotel booking is among the documents Georgia is reported to require from Iranian visitors. No Iranian seller page for Tbilisi was verified, so a rial-paid booking is not guaranteed.

Tips

  • The 45-day visa-free stay, the document checks and the officer's discretion at land borders come from Wikipedia and a June 2026 Koolegard guide; the official geoconsul.gov.ge pages returned 404.
  • Tbilisi–Yerevan runs as an overnight train of about 10.5 hours, reported to sell mostly at the station from the Tbilisi side; Baku–Tbilisi night trains restarted on 26 May 2026 with fares from 81 AZN.
  • The 1405 exit tax applies (900,000 toman for the first trip of the year).
