Where can an Iranian passport go?

Visa and entry

Kuwait: entry rules for Iranians

Verify

Our sources disagree or are not official: confirm with the embassy before booking.

No official Kuwaiti page read on the check date states the rule for Iranians; the e-visa eligibility list is loaded by script and could not be opened. Plan on a sponsored visa in advance.

What we could not confirm

  • Iran's exclusion from the Kuwait e-visa is reported by secondary sources only (May 2025 rule change coverage, April 2026 guides); the official eligible-country list was not read.
  • Fee, stay length and processing time for a sponsored visit visa for Iranians are not published on the pages read.
  • Kuwait has one international airport (KWI), so the airports list is shorter than usual.

How to apply: Reported: ask your host in Kuwait to apply for a visit visa at the Ministry of Interior residency affairs, then collect it through the Kuwaiti embassy in Tehran; do not rely on the online e-visa.

Official page

Conditions

  • The Kuwait Ministry of Interior visa portal (kuwaitvisa.moi.gov.kw) lists four visit visa types (family, medical, commercial, tourist) and an electronic tourist visa, but its eligibility list could not be read on the check date.
  • Secondary sources (2025 and 2026) say Iranian nationals are excluded from the e-visa even with GCC residency and must get a sponsored visit visa through the Kuwaiti embassy, with the Kuwaiti host or company applying.
  • Expect to need a sponsor in Kuwait (relative, company or hotel) and a passport valid at least 6 months; allow several weeks.

Plan the trip

Before you book

  • Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
  • Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
  • Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
