What we could not confirm
- Newsfirst names only major markets (India, China, the US, UK, Australia, Germany, Japan), not Iran; Wikipedia says Iran is included; Koolegard lists Sri Lanka as a 30-day VOA/e-visa.
- The eta.gov.lk fees page showed no country list, so whether the ETA is free or paid for Iranians is unconfirmed.
At a glance
- Maximum stay
- up to 30 days
- Fee
- No fee reported
How to apply: Apply online for the ETA before travel (eta.gov.lk); an ETA is required even if the visa is free.
Conditions
No special conditions reported; carry a return ticket and proof of stay anyway.
Plan the trip
Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
