At a glance
- Maximum stay
- 90 days in any 180
- Fee
- 90 EUR
How to apply: Fill in the online Schengen form on netherlandsworldwide.nl, print and sign it, book a VFS Global Tehran appointment, and attend with your passport, the VFS checklist documents and insurance to give fingerprints and pay.
Official pageConditions
- Residents of Iran apply for the Dutch Schengen visa at VFS Global in Tehran, which the Netherlands says is open again from 6 October 2026 with appointments added gradually; the Dutch embassy in Tehran only handles corrections to issued visas.
- Book the appointment yourself online with VFS Global (one per person); apply at the earliest 6 months and at the latest 15 calendar days before travel.
- Fingerprints are taken at the appointment; children under 12 and people who gave fingerprints for a Schengen visa in the last 59 months are exempt (children still attend).
- Average processing time 18 to 21 calendar days, up to 45 days in some cases, plus the wait for an appointment.
- Fee normally 90 EUR plus the VFS Global service cost (payable even when the visa fee is waived, for example for children under 6).
- Maximum stay 90 days in any 180-day period; the visa may be issued for fewer days.
Plan the trip
Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
