Visa and entry
United Arab Emirates: entry rules for Iranians
Entry closed
Entry or transit is refused to Iranian passport holders right now.
Since 1 April 2026 Emirates and Flydubai have said Iranian nationals may not enter or transit the UAE; Flydubai exempted UAE Golden Visa holders. Treat UAE routings and transits as blocked or high-risk.

What we could not confirm
- The UAE never published a blanket ban officially; a Wego update of 7 Sep 2026 could not verify it was still in force and says a Golden Visa is not automatic boarding clearance. Wikipedia still lists the UAE as 'admission refused'.
- Whether residents or Golden Visa holders are exempt, and the status as of November 2026, are open; the Flydubai travel-updates page could not be reached.

How to apply: Check with your airline before booking; do not plan a transit through Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi on an Iranian passport.
Conditions
No special conditions reported; carry a return ticket and proof of stay anyway.
Plan the trip
Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
