How to apply: Create an ImmiAccount, lodge the Visitor visa (subclass 600) Tourist stream application online with English translations of your documents, pay from 250 AUD, and attend biometrics or a health check only if Home Affairs asks you to.
Official pageConditions
- Iranian passport holders need a Visitor visa (subclass 600), applied for online in ImmiAccount; do not go to an embassy to lodge it.
- The Tourist stream (apply outside Australia) costs from 250 AUD and allows stays of up to 12 months, as set in the grant letter.
- You must show enough money for your stay, intend only to visit, and be outside Australia when you apply and when the visa is decided.
- Home Affairs may ask for biometrics or health checks, and the visa cannot be granted until they are done; the Australian Biometrics Collection Centre in Tehran has resumed work.
- The Australian embassy in Tehran has suspended operations and does not process visas.
- Processing for people in Iran may take longer because of the security situation and internet access.
- The March 2026 entry ban on Iranian visitor visa holders ended on 25 September 2026.

Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
