Official pageConditions
- Switzerland applies the Schengen visa rules, and Iranians need a short-stay Schengen visa before travel.
- The Swiss embassy's update of 3 August 2026 says C visa appointments at VFS Global Tehran exclude tourist visas.
- Consular services in Tehran are described as limited, so a tourist visa cannot currently be booked there.
- VFS Global is the embassy's only provider; anyone offering paid or faster appointments is a fraud.
- Fee 90 EUR per adult (45 EUR for ages 6 to 11) plus a VFS service fee of 16.35 EUR, none of it refundable.
- VFS says processing usually takes 10 working days, longer in busy periods; apply at least two weeks ahead.
- Travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 EUR covering the whole Schengen area is mandatory.

Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
