Official pageConditions
- Cyprus is in the EU but not yet in Schengen, and Iranians need a Cyprus national short-stay visa.
- A valid double or multiple-entry Schengen visa, or a residence permit from a Schengen country, Bulgaria, Croatia or Romania, lets you visit Cyprus without a Cyprus visa for up to 90 days in 180.
- A single-entry Schengen visa does not count for this exemption.
- A Cyprus visa is valid for Cyprus only and does not allow travel to Schengen countries.
- Without a usable Schengen visa, apply at the Cyprus embassy in Tehran.
- Fee 90 EUR per adult (45 EUR for ages 6 to 11, free under 6), paid when applying and not refunded.
- The decision usually takes 15 days, up to 45 days for closer checks; apply between 6 months and 15 days before arrival.
- Enter through Larnaca or Paphos; arriving via Ercan in the north is not a legal entry to the Republic of Cyprus.

Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
