- Iranians need a short-stay Schengen visa before travel.
- Apply through BLS International, the Spain visa centre in Tehran; Spain must be your only or main destination.
- BLS releases new appointment slots every Thursday at 10:00 until the weekly quota is filled.
- Book the appointment yourself with your own email and phone; bookings made by agencies are cancelled.
- If you miss an appointment without cancelling 48 working hours ahead, you cannot book again for 12 weeks.
- Fee 90 EUR per adult (45 EUR for ages 6 to 11, free under 6) plus a BLS service charge of 16.90 EUR.
- BLS says the embassy needs at least 21 working days, so apply at least 21 days before travel and no more than 6 months ahead.
- Travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 EUR covering the whole Schengen area is mandatory.
- Spain asks for proof of funds of about 122 EUR per person per day, and at least 1,099 EUR in total.

Before you book
- Your passport should be valid for at least six months after the trip; many borders refuse less.
- Exit tax is paid before leaving Iran; the amount depends on how many trips you made this year.
- Iranian bank cards do not work abroad: plan cash or a card from outside Iran.
